This Texas tortoise was crossing Palmito Hill Road east of Brownsville, Texas.

I was on my way to the nearby Rocket Ranch in May when I spotted this tortoise working on crossing the road. While traffic isn't heavy on Palmito Hill Road, the Texas tortoise is listed as threatened in Texas, so it was probably a good thing I made sure this one made it across safely.
