"Between 915 and 938 the church is already a subsidiary of the headquarters of Manresa. It is a work built during different periods. The original church was a construction from the 9th century, it was destroyed by Almanzor in 999 and was returned again in 1114 .

During the 12th and 13th centuries, the beam roof was replaced with a stone vault. In the 16th century the bell tower was added, and during the 20th century it was restored by the townspeople.

At first it was parochial, but from the 14th century it took on great importance as a Marian sanctuary, where Saint Ignatius visited on several occasions during his stay.

Viladordis is one of the most important Ignatian sites in the city of Manresa. In 1522 Saint Ignatius spent eleven months in Manresa and during his stay in the city he frequently went to the sanctuary to pray and ask for charity at the Casa de las Marcitas, a house located near the church, where those who exercised the power resided. board and took care of the church before there was a resident priest.

Saint Ignatius became a great devotee. Currently at the entrance to the sanctuary there is a stone that remembers the place where he knelt to pray, the stone contains the inscription "Year 15 22 JHS Father of S Ignasi". An oil painting that commemorates the saint has also existed since 1632."
