Haciendo un poco de historia hay que comentar que en el punto donde se encuentra actualmente el conjunto capilla/edificio, se piensa que estaba situada la cárcel donde estuvo prisionero el obispo Valero (s. III – 315) llamado «el Confesor», hasta que fue desterrado de Valencia sin haber recibido martirio. Mas, como apunte histórico, hay que comentar que en ese mismo proceso que llevó al destierro al obispo Valero, también estuvo implicado el diácono Vicente, discípulo del mismo, el cual tuvo peor suerte que su maestro, pues fue cruelmente martirizado y finalmente desollado y quemado en una parrilla, siendo conocido posteriormente como San Vicente Mártir (s. III – 304).
Años, siglos después, en 1719 el canónigo Jaime Sivera (¿?-1772) encargó construir en ese mismo lugar una capilla que se denominaría Capilla de San Valero y San Vicente Mártir, aunque en la actualidad se conoce tan sólo por el nombre de Capilla de San Valero, la cual tiene una gran puerta adintelada de estilo barroco flanqueada por unas pilastras de estilo toscano. Sobre el dintel de la puerta hay un óculo de generosas proporciones y sobre el mismo se abre una amplia hornacina donde se haya un busto de grandes dimensiones de San Valero, realizado a finales del siglo XX por el escultor valenciano Rafael Orellano (1925), motivo por el cual se conoce a esta capilla tan sólo como la Capilla de San Valero. Rematando la hornacina hay un frontón triangular. Hay que destacar que sobre el dintel de la puerta encontramos una inscripción que pone: «Año 1719», que es el año en que se construyó.
En el interior de la capilla, no demasiado grande, hay un altar y sobre él, en la pared, un retablo bastante sencillo en su realización con una sola imagen en el centro, que está dedicado a San Valero. Ambas piezas provienen del desaparecido convento dominico de Santa Catalina de Siena, situado donde hoy está el Edificio 1 de El Corte Inglés, de las calles Pintor Sorolla-Colón. Estos elementos se instalaron en la capilla en 1970, cuando las monjas dominicas se trasladaron al nuevo monasterio de Santa Catalina de Siena construido en Paterna.
Más, con el devenir de los años, el entorno de la capilla fue albergando más construcciones y, pasó algo que realmente resulta curioso y digno de mención, pues en lugar de preservar la capilla intacta para el culto y construir a su alrededor, se permitió construir un edificio justamente sobre ella, sí, encima de ella.
Este edificio de construyó en 1906 como pone explícitamente en su alto en un hastial apuntado flanqueando las letras mayúsculas AS. El proyecto nació de la mano del arquitecto valenciano Manuel Peris Ferrando (1872-1934), siendo este un edificio de viviendas que consta de planta baja y cuatro alturas, habiendo dejado la capilla de San Valero en el centro de la fachada en la planta baja.

Inside the chapel, not too large, there is an altar and above it, on the wall, an altarpiece that is quite simple in its construction with a single image in the center, which is dedicated to Saint Valero. Both pieces come from the disappeared Dominican convent of Santa Catalina de Siena, located where Building 1 of El Corte Inglés is today, on Pintor Sorolla-Colón streets. These elements were installed in the chapel in 1970, when the Dominican nuns moved to the new monastery of Santa Catalina de Siena built in Paterna.
More, with the passing of the years, the surroundings of the chapel were housing more constructions and, something happened that is really curious and worth mentioning, because instead of preserving the chapel intact for worship and building around it, it was allowed build a building right on it, yes, on top of it.
This building was built in 1906 as it explicitly states in its height on a pointed gable flanking the capital letters AS. The project was born from the hand of the Valencian architect Manuel Peris Ferrando (1872-1934), this being a residential building consisting of a ground floor and four heights, having left the chapel of San Valero in the center of the façade on the ground floor.
