"Although we do not know the exact date of its construction, the works must have begun at the end of the 16th century, being completed in the first decades of the 17th century, coinciding with the construction of the annexed Cistercian convent.

There are few data that we have about the history of this property. At present it is the only Christian temple that remains in Guadalcázar, although it must have coincided in time with another church that some ancient texts refer to as "the old church", which probably corresponded to the church of the convent of Ntra. Lady of Charity, of the Discalced Carmelites, now extinct.

The current appearance of its façade is the result of a reform in 1968, which eliminated all the previous decorative elements, and shortly after, in 1972, the roofs were completely replaced. In 2019, the most recent conservation and maintenance works were carried out.

It is a rectangular building with a single nave about 30 meters deep by 8.5 meters wide, with attached chapels and sacristy. The chapel of the Tabernacle stands out, which has a small altarpiece made of carved and gilded wood, and with decoration typical of the second half of the 18th century, presided over by a carving of the Immaculate Conception of Mary."
