Beschrijving

Voormalig stadhuis zogenaamd "Spaans Paviljoen". Gotisch hoekgebouw bij Grote Markt. Als stadhuis gebouwd in 1448-1452; uitgebreid circa 1530 met nieuwe vleugel aan oostelijke straatzijde. Na 1586, diverse bestemmingen onder meer verblijfplaats van Spaans garnizoen, zie in voege gebleven benaming; thans Vredegerecht. Restauratiewerken in 1890 onder leiding van architect J. Vinck (Veurne), voornamelijk met betrekking tot jongere vleugel, zie onder meer jongere materialen van borstwering, kruiskozijnen, traceerwerk en trappenbordes.

Oudste vleugel met woontorenuitzicht; twee + één travee en drie bouwlagen onder schilddak (leien) met houten dakkapel. Rechthoekig bakstenen gebouw op natuurstenen sokkel met rechthoekige kelderopening; hoekstenen op begane grond. Horizontaal gemarkeerde verdieping door middel van kordons; rondboognisje met Mariabeeld op begane grond aan oostelijke straatzijde. Borstwering met spitsboognissen en kleine hoektorens zonder bekroning. Houten kruiskozijnen verdiept in geprofileerde spitsen korfboogomlijstingen met drielobbig traceerwerk in het boogveld, afzaat en geprofileerde druiplijst met gestrekte uiteinden.

Description

Ancien hôtel de ville dit 'Pavillon Espagnol'. Bâtiment d'angle gothique à Grote Markt. Construit comme hôtel de ville en 1448-1452 ; agrandi vers 1530 avec une nouvelle aile du côté est de la rue. Après 1586, diverses destinations incluent résidence de garnison espagnole, voir appellation toujours en vigueur ; aujourd'hui juge de paix. Travaux de restauration en 1890 sous la direction de l'architecte J. Vinck (Veurnes), principalement liés à l'aile plus jeune, voir matériaux plus jeunes du parapet, croisillons, traçage et palier d'escalier.

Aile la plus ancienne avec vue sur la tour résidentielle ; deux + une travée et trois étages sous toit en croupe (ardoises) avec lucarne bois. Bâtiment rectangulaire en brique sur socle en pierre naturelle avec ouverture rectangulaire en sous-sol; pierres angulaires au rez-de-chaussée. Plancher marqué horizontalement au moyen de cordons ; niche en plein cintre avec statue de la Vierge Marie au rez-de-chaussée du côté est de la rue. Parapet à niches en arc brisé et petites tours d'angle sans couronnement. Cadres en croix en bois encastrés dans des cadres en arc de panier pointu profilés avec entrelacs à trois lobes dans le champ de l'arc, afzat et moulures profilées avec extrémités étirées.

Former town hall known as the 'Spanish Pavilion'. Gothic corner building at Grote Markt. Built as a town hall in 1448-1452; enlarged around 1530 with a new wing on the east side of the street. After 1586, various destinations include Spanish garrison residence, see name still in use; now a justice of the peace. Restoration work in 1890 under the direction of the architect J. Vinck (Veurnes), mainly related to the younger wing, see younger materials of the parapet, braces, tracing and stair landing.

Oldest wing with a view of the residential tower; two + one span and three floors under hipped roof (slates) with wooden dormer window. Rectangular brick building on a natural stone base with a rectangular opening in the basement; cornerstones on the ground floor. Floor marked horizontally with cords; semicircular niche with statue of the Virgin Mary on the ground floor on the east side of the street. Parapet with broken arch niches and small corner towers without crowning. Wooden cross frames encased in profiled pointed basket arch frames with three lobed tracery in the field of the arch, afzat and profiled moldings with stretched ends.
