"Iniciadas las obras en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI, estaban terminadas el año 1575, en que tomó posesión la comunidad de los Padres Franciscanos. En el siglo XVIII, se construyó al lado de la primitiva nave de la iglesia, otra de iguales dimensiones y paralela a la primera, ensanchando el templo justamente en un doble. Convertida también en capilla de la Comunión, en el altar principal se construyó un artístico retablo y se colocó el milagroso Ecce Homo, adornando la capilla con hermosas pinturas.
En 1979 fue cedido a la Asociación El Patriarca, dedicada al tratamiento de personas con drogadicción. Las dependencias monacales aún se conservan y son de destacar algunas como el claustro a la entrada y dos grandes alas en las que se puede apreciar cocina o biblioteca, con jardín. Actualmente, desde 2012 se encuentra en reformas, para ser rehabilitado y convertirlo en un centro de acogida para los más necesitados. De ello se ocupan los hermanos de la Tercera orden de San Francisco (TOR)."
