This pillar can be found on the Fife Coastal Path on Kincraig Hill, a headland jutting into the Firth of Forth between Shell Bay to the west, and Earlsferry Links to the east. The pillar stands at 63 metres above the cliff top and the famous Elie Chain Walk just a few yards south of the path which climbs over the headland. The hill also features an antenna and various WWII pill boxes along the summit. The pillar is in good condition, and as expected, the views are predominately seaward to the south, almost the entire length of the Firth being in view.
STEEPNESS: A short, stiff climb up from the seashore to the east, slightly less so from the west.
TERRAIN: The coastal path, rutted in places and grassy on the top of the hill.
ACCESSIBILITY: Easily accessible from the Fife Coastal Path around a mile from Earlsferry to the east.
NAVIGATION: From Earlsferry, follow the path around the coastline crossing part of Elie Golf Course, before the stiff climb up the eastern end of the cliff where steps have been cut up the hill. Once on the top, head westwards, passing the antenna to the pillar which lies among rough grass.
DANGER: Stay away from the cliff edge which lies just south of the pillar.
