To reach the station, I recommend parking at the junction of Gyp Quarry Road and Red Mountain Road at N41 01.250 W105 58.297. A higher-clearance 2WD vehicle should be able to make it to the junction, but I strongly suggest using only a 4WD vehicle or OHV to go any further up Red Mountain Road from this point. From the intersection, it is about an 8 mile round-trip hike to the summit and back. You can hike along Red Mountain Road to within about 200 feet of the top. The entirety of the drive to the intersection and the hike to the top is on BLM land.

The station is attached to an iron pipe that is driven into the ground on the highest point of Red Mountain; it projects about 4 inches above the ground and is surrounded by a juniper bush and a few large rocks. I was able to locate reference mark 1 (posted as a separate waymark), but could not find reference mark 2. I was able to locate what I believe to be the cluster of 4 trees mentioned in the description for RM2 (now just two dead trees and two stumps), but the area to the northeast of this tree cluster is heavily overgrown with junipers. Despite a lot of kicking through the dirt around the bushes, I could not locate RM2.
