The area around the azimuth mark has changed significantly since it was set in 1957. There is no longer a red brick school house near the mark, and outside of three visibly occupied properties near the intersection of 212th Road and 11th Road, there is no sign of the community of Rainbow Bend that once existed here. While it was well before my time, some older members of my family say that there was once a general store near the intersection of 212th and 11th that had a driveway paved with pop-bottle caps.

I have never had any success in locating the triangulation station and its reference marks. While they appear to be set in a relatively undisturbed section of pasture grass in the modern day, I suspect they are either buried or have been destroyed at some point in history (a metal detector is required to verify if they are present or not). Despite searching for the station/reference marks on many occasions several years ago, I never bothered to look for the azimuth mark until 2023. I found the azimuth mark exactly as described and in good condition. It is set in the top of a square concrete monument northeast of a corner fencepost at the eastern end of a hedge row. It is about 35 feet west of the centerline of 11th Street and projects about 8 inches above the surface of the ground.
