"La basílica de los Santos Ambrosio y Carlos en el Corso (en italiano: Sant'Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso, normalmente conocida solo como San Carlo al Corso, es una iglesia romana del siglo xvii, erigida en la parte central de la Via del Corso. Su construcción se inició en 1612 y finalizó en 1669, y reemplazó a otra iglesia anterior del siglo x. En la parte trasera, al otro lado de la Via di Ripetta a la que da el ábside, se encuentra el mausoleo de Augusto.
Esta iglesia es la iglesia nacional de los lombardos que residen en Roma y está dedicada a los santos milaneses Ambrosio y Carlos Borromeo (En el deambulatorio detrás del santuario, hay un nicho donde se encuentra un relicario que guarda el corazón de san Carlos, donado a la iglesia en 1614 por el cardenal Federico Borromeo, primo del santo). El título de cardenal de la iglesia pertenece tradicionalmente al arzobispo de Milán y es una de las, al menos tres iglesias romanas, dedicadas a Borromeo, siendo las otras San Carlo ai Catinari y San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane. Desde 1906 ha sido oficiada por el Instituto de la Caridad (rosminianos).
La iglesia se convirtió en basílica menor con el breve apostólico Lombardi in Urbe de Pío XI de 21 de diciembre de 1929."

"The Basilica of Saints Ambrose and Charles on the Corso (Italian: Sant'Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso, normally known only as San Carlo al Corso, is a 17th-century Roman church, erected in the central part of Via del Corso Its construction began in 1612 and finished in 1669, and replaced another earlier church of the 10th century.To the rear, across the Via di Ripetta from which the apse overlooks, is the mausoleum of Augustus.
This church is the national church of the Lombards residing in Rome and is dedicated to the Milanese Saints Ambrose and Charles Borromeo (In the ambulatory behind the sanctuary, there is a niche where there is a reliquary that holds the heart of Saint Charles, donated to the church in 1614 by Cardinal Federico Borromeo, the saint's cousin). The church's cardinal title traditionally belongs to the Archbishop of Milan and it is one of at least three Roman churches dedicated to Borromeo, the others being San Carlo ai Catinari and San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane. Since 1906 it has been officiated by the Institute of Charity (Rosminians).
The church became a minor basilica with the apostolic brief Lombardi in Urbe of Pius XI on December 21, 1929."
