[GAL] En un paseo por Ávila, situada en el Camino de Levante, estos dos azulejos dibujaron en mi cara una gran sonrisa, ¡a Santiago podemos llegar tomando cualquier dirección…!. Hoy, día de Santiago, lo marco esperando que algún día otro waymarker sonría al pasar por aquí.
Los azulejos tienen en un lateral la inscripción: “AACS Alicante”, lo que indica que han sido colocados por la Asociación de Amigos del Camino de Santiago de Alicante.
“El Camino de Levante recorre la Península de este a noroeste durante 842,43 km y comunica el Levante, las dos Castillas y Galicia. Parte de Valencia y entre las provincias de Albacete y Valladolid confluye en diversos tramos con el Camino del Sureste, que proviene de Alicante. El Camino de Levante se dirige por Toro hacia Zamora, donde se une a la Vía de la Plata.
Origen Histórico
Aparte la existencia de calzadas romanas que comunicaban el Levante con el resto de la Península, en los puertos levantinos desembarcaban multitud de peregrinos medievales provenientes de países mediterráneos, para desde aquí proseguir la peregrinación a pie a lo largo de toda España. Para acoger a todo este flujo peregrinatorio, en la ciudad de Valencia existieron desde el siglo XIV diversas órdenes e instituciones que regentaron hasta 13 hospitales de peregrinos.”

[EN] On a walk through Ávila, located on the Camino de Levante, these two tiles brought a big smile to my face. We can get to Santiago taking any direction…! Today, Santiago's Day, I mark it hoping that one day another waymarker will smile when passing by.
The tiles have the inscription on one side: "AACS Alicante", which indicates that they have been placed by the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago de Alicante.

Apart from the existence of Roman roads that connected the Levant with the rest of the Peninsula, multitudes of medieval pilgrims from Mediterranean countries disembarked in the Levantine ports, to continue their pilgrimage on foot throughout all of Spain from here. To accommodate all this pilgrimage flow, in the city of Valencia there were various orders and institutions that ran up to 13 pilgrim hospitals since the 14th century.”
