The hamlet of Cookney is situated on a hill seven miles to the south-west of the Scottish city of Aberdeen in north-east Scotland. The church on the top of the hill was built in 1885 as a chapel of ease in a gothic style aligned from west to east. The date can be seen on the western gable under the prominent bellcote on the apex.
The church is no longer in use and is now a gas supplies company business and named R.U.M. House. The building was a prominent landmark in the area on the hilltop, but is now largely obscured by recent tree growth.
