The Lake Travis United Methodist Church has a large classical labyrinth behind the Sanctuary building, near the corner of this building. The labyrinth is on the same ground level as the Sanctuary. It is not downhill in the lower section of the church's property.
The labyrinth is about 68 feet in diameter and has an 11-circuit pathway. The entrance into the path is near the back corner of the Sanctuary and when standing there to begin the journey into the labyrinth, the view at the entrance looks across the large circle toward a single large Cross that is in visual alinement with the labyrinth's entrance and it's center circle! The path is wide and made with crushed red granite edged with thick native limestone cut into bricks. At the center there are six large boulders place around the center's edge. The labyrinth is in excellent condition and appears well cared for.
The pathway to the labyrinth's center is designed to complement the concept that walking a labyrinth allows you to meditate and release your tensions and worries on the way in. At the center, you can leave those frustrations there and can return on the same path back with a more relaxed attitude of hope and contentment.
