The Cenotaph is near the 1st Gwandalan Scout Hall, and is a modest War Memorial with a Nautical Flag Pole next to it. On the central capped pillar is a gilt inscribed polished black marble tablet, with the following inscribed on it:

LEST WE FORGET

A cast rectangular bronze plaque is embedded in the brown brick work below it. Its raised and milled inscription reads:

[Lions International logo]
This Memorial is Dedicated to the Servicemen & Women Who Gave Their Lives for the Freedom of Australia

Erected by: The Lions Club of Gwandalan Inc. June 2003 Pres. N. Latta

Below that is a smaller, engraved brass plaque with white infill, which is screwed to a chamfered sandstone block/plinth. It reads:

From the People
of Gwandalan
25th April, 1961.
LEST WE FORGET

The Cenotaph is set within 10 wooden posts in a white gravel base with galvanised chain linking all, but the two posts at the concrete path entrance. There is a curved low brown brick wall topped with sawn and faced sandstone slabs, with a modest central pillar, facing a small paved court of symmetrically placed pink pavers. The Nautical Flag Pole is immediately to the left inside the entrance.
