Auf dem Haus mit der Adresse Hauptplatz 2
in Eggenburg ist ein sehr altes schmiedeeisernes Schild, das den ehemaligen
Gasthof "Zum weissen Lamm" beworben hat. Das Schild zeigt ein weißes Lamm und
darunter den Schriftzug "zum weissen Lamm".
Das Haus steht unter
Denkmalschutz.
Eine Inschrift auf der Fassade erwähnt das Jahr MD (1500). Ob es sich dabei
um das Baujahr handelt, ist nicht bekannt. Aber eine vertrauenswürdige
Quelle gibt Informationen über das Alter des Schilds:
"Reicher, schmiedeeiserner Wirtshausarm 'zum weissen Lamm'. Der Arm mit
Blattwerk besetzt, das oben von Gitterwerk durchbrochen ist. Dazwischen lose
Blütenranken. Der Wirtshausschild in rundem, hängendem Medaillon; zweites
Viertel des XVIII. Jhs., der Schild Anfang des XIX. Jhs."

On the house with the address Hauptplatz 2 in Eggenburg is a very old wrought
iron sign advertising the former inn "Zum weissen Lamm" (To the white lamb). The
sign shows a white lamb and below it the words "zum weissen Lamm".
The house is a listed building. An inscription on the facade mentions the
year MD (1500). Whether this is the year of construction is not known. But a
trustworthy source gives information about the age of the sign:
"Rich, wrought iron inn sign 'to the white lamb'. The sign set with
foliage pierced by latticework at the top. Between them loose flower
tendrils. The inn shield in round hanging medallion; second quarter of XVIII
c., the shield at the beginning of XVIII c.. The shield early XIX century."
