[FR] Première ville en France à s'être libérée grâce à l'action de la Résistance le jour même du débarquement allié du 6 juin 1944, Saint-Amand-Montrond subit les représailles ennemies le 8 juin.

Située en zone libre au début de la guerre, elle devient le refuge de nombreuses familles juives qui n'échappèrent pas aux persécutions du 24 juillet 1944.
