The Oak Hill United Methodist Church is on west edge of Austin, TX is about a third of a mile east of Ascension Seton Southwest Hospital. The church faces US-290, so when traveling on US-29, there are several stop lights close together and the turn off onto the entrance road to the church property from US-290 is, at the time of posting, difficult to see due to roadway construction. It is best to use a GPS device to guide you from US-290 to the church location. Over time, the construction will be completed and finding the turnoff will be much clearer.

From US-290, turn south onto the entrance roadway to the church and follow the church signage to their parking lot. There are maps posted around the parking lot of the church campus layout. The labyrinth is shown on the far east edge of the church property. it is behind the Day Care Center and the Adult Learning Building. Follow the sidewalks around to the back of these buildings and you will see a wide open field in which the giant-sized labyrinth is located.

This labyrinth at the Oak Hill UMC is very rustic. It is on the edge of a cluster of trees on the north and east of its circumference. The south and west edge of the labyrinth's circumference is open with no obstructions. The pathway is the natural ground of the meadow in which it is placed. Edges are defined by native limestone rocks. The pathway has natural ground cover growing in the pathway of wildflowers and various native grasses. In the Spring, it is abloom with the reds, whites and yellows of native wildflowers. The pathway is amply wide. The design of this labyrinth is the traditional Chartres pattern where the path folds and moves through the four quarters of the labyrinth before ending at the center.

The way to the center is designed to complement the concept that walking a labyrinth allows you to meditate and your tensions and worries on the way in. At the center, you can leave those frustrations there and can return on the same pathway back with a more relaxed attitude of hope and contentment.
