Seton Southwest Hospital has built two labyrinths at the outer edge of one of its parking lots. These two labyrinths are about the same size but are NOT conjoined twins! There is about 16 feet of space separating the two labyrinths. This independent labyrinth is designed in the traditional pattern of the path folding and moving through all four quarters before getting to the center. It is the pattern of the famous French cathedral in Chartres, France. The labyrinth is an 11-circuit design.
Standing on the edge of the parking lot area nearest the labyrinths and facing toward the labyrinths, this labyrinth is the leftmost labyrinth, the one to the North of its neighboring labyrinth. It is the labyrinth with red crushed granite in its pathway and the one with uniform rectangular white bricks as the edging material that forms the pathway.
The way to the center is designed to complement the concept that walking a labyrinth allows you to meditate and release your tensions and worries on the way in. At the center, you can leave those frustrations there and can return on the same path back with a more relaxed attitude of hope and contentment.
