[EN] Build from abbey of Noirlac was built in 1150 by a small group of monks from Clairvaux. It reflects the monastic asceticism of the Cistercian order founded by Saint-Robert and developed by Saint-Bernard.
From the 16th century until the French Revolution, the few monks who resided there devoted themselves as much to the management of the community's goods as to the spiritual life. In 1791, the abbey was confiscated as national property.
It was then occupied by a porcelain factory for a large part of the 19th century.
The monument became the property of the department of Cher in 1909 and underwent a remarkable restoration from 1950 to 1980. The abbey then regained its authentic character in its original layout. The abbey is now a modern building, with new contemporary stained glass windows commissioned from Jean-Pierre Raynaud.
