This road side rest area and scenic pull out is on the north side of Highway 412, four miles east of the ghost town of Abbott. There is plenty of room to park, stretch your legs, walk the dog, and admire the view of the distant Rocky Mountains to the northeast. If you want to have lunch there are shelters and tables, and there are also two New Mexico Historical Markers for your reading enjoyment. The maps identify this as the "Point of Rocks" rest area, which is the topic of one of the markers.
