Built between 1762 and 1763 according to the plans of Mr. Paulmier de la Tour, the Saint Martin gate is the last testimony of the old gates at the time when Montélimar was still surrounded by ramparts.

Built of ashlars from Cruas and Puygiron, its upper part is decorated with oak and palm leaves, with a cartouche in the center that was once charged with the arms of the dauphin. The two windows (doors on either side) were added to the original construction in the years 1849-50.
