Selon Wikipedia, "Saint-Calixte est une municipalité et une ville de la région de Lanaudière au Québec, au Canada, faisant partie de la municipalité régionale de comté de Montcalm. Sa proximité avec la ville de Montréal et son environnement naturel font de Saint-Calixte une destination de camping en été. Il y a aussi de nombreux chalets qui entourent les nombreux lacs de la région. En 2013, le plus grand site d'amusement/camping au Québec, Camping et parc d'amusement Atlantide, un investissement de 10 millions de dollars, a ouvert ses portes dans la municipalité.

En 1845, l'endroit est d'abord incorporé sous le nom de municipalité de Saint-Lin en se séparant de la municipalité de paroisse de Saint-Lin (aujourd'hui Saint-Lin-Laurentides), mais aboli deux ans plus tard.

En 1851, la Mission Saint-Calixte est formée, du nom du pape Callixte Ier. En 1855, la municipalité est rétablie sous le nom de Township Municipality of Kilkenny, prenant le nom du canton géographique dans lequel elle se trouve (le canton est formé en 1832 et nommé d'après une ville et un comté d'Irlande). Un an plus tard, en 1856, le bureau de poste ouvre, portant le nom de Saint-Calixte-de-Kilkenny depuis 1877. En 1954, la municipalité prend son nom actuel".

Its proximity to the city of Montreal, and its natural environment, make Saint-Calixte a destination for camping in the summertime. There are also many cottages that surround the many lakes in the region. In 2013, Quebec's largest amusement/camping site, Camping et parc d'amusement Atlantide, a 10 million dollar investment, opened its doors in the municipality.

In 1845, the place was first incorporated as the Municipality of Saint-Lin by separating from the Parish Municipality of Saint-Lin (now Saint-Lin-Laurentides), but abolished two years later.

In 1851, the Saint-Calixte Mission was formed, named after Pope Callixtus I. In 1855, the municipality was reestablished as the Township Municipality of Kilkenny, taking the name of the geographic township in which it is located (the township was formed in 1832 and named after a city and county in Ireland). A year later in 1856, the post office opened, bearing the name Saint-Calixte-de-Kilkenny since 1877. In 1954, the municipality was renamed to its current name".
