The First Church of Deerfield, a.k.a. the Brick Church, was established in as the Congregational Church of Deerfield in 1673. In 1807 the congregation adopted Unitarianism. Today they belong to both the United Church of Christ and the Unitarian Universalist Association.

The current two story high, brick church building is the fifth meeting house established in Deerfield. The church was built in 1824 in the Federal style designed by architect Winthrop Clapp. The façade of the church building has a set of steps leading up to a set of three entrances. All are located in a projection section under a pediment. Each entrance has a rounded top and is recessed within a two story high brick arch. Above the entrances are 16 by 16 multi-paned rectangular windows with black shutters. Flanking the entrance is a single bay with matching windows on the lower and upper level.

Rising from the gable roof is a square belfry with louvered windows followed by three increasingly small hexagonal towers with Doric at each corner. On the top is a slender hexagonal brick tower with a finial topped by a rooster weather vane. The sides of the building are seven bays deep. Each bay has 4 by 4 double hung multi-paned rectangular windows with black shutters on the upper and lower levels that are recessed within brick arches.

The First Church of Deerfield is a contributing building to the Old Deerfield Historic District, which is listed as a National Historic Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places.
