The entrance gate at the coordinates of 29.39024 -98.55240 may be the easiest point of entry to use in getting to this Ludwig family mausoleum. This entrance will save you time by putting you in the correct section of this large cemetery.

The Ludwig family has many relatives buried here within San Fernando Cemetery 3. Five are within this mausoleum while four others are buried more traditionally only a few rows behind this structure. The mausoleum appears to be built with six large sections inside. Each section could hold more than one coffin but a uniquely different name is engraved on five of the six sections, indicating that so far only one person is within each section. The upper right section appears to be unused at the time of this posting.

The engraving on the square marble panels, from top left to bottom right are as follows:
Top left: Edna Scott 1889 - 1955
Top middle: Anna Ludwig 1865 - 1912
Top right: (blank)
Bottom left: Anna Lucile Ludwig 1914 - 1922
Bottom middle: Albert L. Ludwig 1865 - 1926
Bottom right: Milton Ludwig 1892 - 1949

The outside and inside walls of the mausoleum appears to be covered by stucco, painted white inside and out. An interesting feature on the front of the building is the presence of two identical Woodmen Circle tree memorials honoring the same person: Annie Ludwig. Each monument is placed in a recess in the wall each side of the entrance gate. The Woodmen Circle crest adorns the top of the tree-shaped monuments. Below is a scroll on which the following is engraved:

In Memorium
Woodmen
Circle

Annie
Ludwig

Born
April 11,
1865
Died
Dec. 12,
1912

These born and died dates on the two identical Woodmen Circle monuments match with the dates engraved on the top middle section inside the mausoleum with the name given as Anna Ludwig. It would not be unusual for a girl named Anna to be called Annie among family and friends.

But based upon the various gravestones present in this cemetery, there does seem to be a family naming trend among the female Ludwigs because there are three Anna or Annie Ludwigs, with at least two of them being members of the Woodmen Circle. This includes the Annie E. Ludwig who has the Woodmen Circle memorial marker that is in a traditional gravesite a few rows behind this mausoleum building. (See link to WM17J5V below). The three Anna/Annie Ludwigs in or near this mausoleum in order of birth are as follows:
