El impresionante escudo que aún se conserva en su fachada nos recuerda a la familia que lo mandó construir: los Silva, señores de la villa e influyentes nobles toledanos.

En su interior, las dependencias mantenían el intimismo de sus dueños, los Silva, quienes orgullosos se sentían por ese enorme León Rampante que sirve de enseña poderosa y que se divisa desde largos kilómetros de su llanura.
Esculpido por artesanos de la piedra, navarros, altivo por su esbeltez, de pie en sintonía con la propia torre, ocupa varios metros del lienzo de esa piedra que como gran escudo heráldico le atesora. Sus casi cinco metros de altura por tres metros de anchura, tallado directamente en la misma piedra sillar de su costado oriental le da la singularidad de un castillo único en toda la Castilla amesetada. No hay otro igual.
La característica más especial de este castillo es, sin duda, el impresionante león grabado en piedra sobre la torre del homenaje. Este emblema heráldico es de la familia Silva, los Condes de Cifuentes. La fortaleza fue construida por esta familia en el s. XV gracias a la iniciativa de Juan de Silva, el primer conde de Cifuentes, posteriormente se dotó de artillería y guarnición en el s. XVI.
Inside, the rooms maintained the intimacy of their owners, the Silvas, who felt proud of that huge Rampant Lion that serves as a powerful banner and can be seen from miles of its plain.
Sculpted by stone artisans from Navarra, proud due to its slenderness, standing in tune with the tower itself, it occupies several meters of the canvas of that stone that treasures it as a great heraldic shield. Its almost five meters high by three meters wide, carved directly into the same ashlar stone on its eastern side, gives it the singularity of a unique castle in all of Castile on the plateau. There is not others equal.
The most special feature of this castle is undoubtedly the impressive stone-engraved lion on the keep. This heraldic emblem belongs to the Silva family, the Counts of Cifuentes. The fortress was built by this family in the s. XV thanks to the initiative of Juan de Silva, the first count of Cifuentes, later equipped with artillery and garrison in the s. XVI.
