It is here that the Souchez canal joins the canalized Deûle, one of the oldest navigable waterways in the North which itself links the Scarpe to the Lys.
A now defunct mill, coal pit and distillery once marked this industrial hub.
The confluence bears witness to the age and density of the network of waterways linking the main cities of the region.
River tourism, reinvestment of old towpaths in soft connections or alternative to the transport of goods by road, the canals (a time neglected) are now at the heart of structuring projects."

C’est ici que le canal de la Souchez rejoint la Deûle canalisée, l’une des plus anciennes voies d’eau navigables du Nord qui relie elle-même la Scarpe à la Lys.
Un moulin, une fosse d’extraction du charbon et une distillerie, aujourd’hui disparus, marquaient autrefois ce carrefour industriel.
La confluence témoigne de l’ancienneté et de la densité du réseau de voies navigables reliant les principales villes de la région.
Tourisme fluvial, réinvestissement des anciens chemins de halage en liaisons douces ou alternative au transport de marchandises par la route, les canaux (un temps délaissés) sont désormais au cœur de projets structurants."
