The memorial cross was erected after the First World War and later amended to commemorate the Second World War.

The cross is A Historic England Grade II Listed Building.

War memorial to south of Church of St Stephen GV II World War I memorial, 1919 or later.

Sandstone. Saxon cross form on tall sloped base. Cable-moulded borders and interlace panels, those on shaft with high-relief figures of St George and a recording angel.

Arms of cross have bosses among interlace. Inscribed on lower part of shaft: "Remember the love of them who came not home from the war". Below this a copper plate with names of World War II dead. Names of World War I dead inscribed on base." link This description states that the two figures carved on the shaft of the cross are St. George and a recording Angel. However above the second figure is the word St. Stephen, the patron saint of the church.

Underneath the carved figures is the following inscription.
