"On the stone base there are two commemorative plaques which read:
(above) Enrico Muscetra/ Romeo and Juliet a suspended dream/ bronze 2008;
(on the side) Base donated by the municipality of Verona/ for the work of the sculptor Enrico Muscetra/ who contributes to spreading the prestige, history/ and tradition of Verona throughout the world.

The bronze, melted in Krakow in 2008 , was placed in its current location in 2012. The bronze sculpture was conceived as part of an international project aimed at the most famous myths known at European level. This project ended in 2009, on the occasion of the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, with the exhibition "Romeo and Juliet, a suspended dream", held in Krakow, Lecce and finally in Verona. It was Muscetra's work that was recognized by critics as representative of the whole event.

In this work the bodies of Romeo and Juliet are represented as two hearts defined by the harmonious intersection of matter and empty spaces, with which the artist usually works. Muscetra never aims at a clear definition of his subjects in space and time, but wants to express their essence and the impossibility of fixing things in time. The heart is therefore not conceived by the artist only as an organ, but as a symbol of spirituality.

The author, Enrico Muscetra , sculptor and painter from Salento (Alezio, 1946), known to most for his famous "hearts", recurring motifs in his artistic work, and for the equally well-known "Monument to the hedgehog" for Gallipoli, had the opportunity to set up his first personal exhibition in Milan in 1971. It was precisely in the Milanese suburb that he became the protagonist of a new mode of communication between painting, architecture and the public as he created wall paintings for the urban suburb. However, the most famous works of the Salento artist are the bronze sculptures, mostly made in Poland, where Muscetra still maintains an atelier."
