Construction began at the end of the 14th century, with the Order of Calatrava behind its construction. It is a Gothic-style building, very much in keeping with what is being done at that time in the diocese of Toledo.

Outside, on the shady façade, the buttresses are topped by pinnacles adorned with Elizabethan balls. The door has a pointed arch with little decoration on its capitals. On the other hand, the western doorway, which although it was initially the main one, is now blinded, is one of the most interesting. It is a flared door with archivolts and very well made cardina decoration.

The door on the south façade, known as Puerta del Sol, has a curtained arch that can be dated to around the last quarter of the 15th century.

The tower dates back to the construction of the church, from the mid-16th century.

The interior is structured in three naves, separated by pillars with attached columns, a polygonal head and two apses, the naves being covered with tercelete vaults. The decoration on the capitals is very interesting, we find both vegetal elements and figurative representations such as the mermaid capital.
