[ES] La Estación del Norte, también conocida históricamente como Madrid-Príncipe Pío, fue una importante estación de ferrocarril que estuvo operativa entre 1882 y 1993. Durante ese período constituyó uno de los principales complejos ferroviarios de la capital.
Durante cerca de un siglo fue la terminal de buena parte de las conexiones de la capital con el norte de España. La inauguración en 1967 de la Estación de Chamartín marcó el inicio del declive de la histórica Estación del Norte, pues con el paso de los años el nuevo recinto ferroviario acabaría absorbiendo buena parte de su tráfico. En 1993 fue finalmente clausurada y posteriormente rehabilitada como intercambiador de transportes (trenes de cercanías, autobuses interurbanos y Metro) y un centro comercial.

[EN] The Estación del Norte, also known historically as Madrid-Príncipe Pío, was an important railway station that was operational between 1882 and 1993. During that period it was one of the main railway complexes in the capital.
For nearly a century it was the terminal for a good part of the capital's connections with the north of Spain. The inauguration in 1967 of the Chamartín Station marked the beginning of the decline of the historic Estación del Norte, since over the years the new railway complex would end up absorbing a good part of its traffic. In 1993 it was finally closed and later rehabilitated as a transport hub (commuter trains, intercity buses and Metro) and a shopping center.
