English: Fjordmarken's dissemination house is a fine, small local history museum for the extraction of shells in Odense Fjord and the damming of Fjordmarken at Egensedybet.

The exhibition in Formidlingshuset tells about the hard work that several generations undertook to dam the sea and transform it into agricultural land.

In the year 1818, landowner Elias J. Møller from the Østrupgaard manor began the damming of Egense Fjord. The work of building the dams was carried out according to the Dutch model by day laborers with shovels and spades. Two dams were built for the small island of Bogø, and the water was kept out using high water locks. The dams were built from piles, rice fences, earth and stone.

The land behind the dams was not completely drained, but could be used for grazing and haying. The total recovered area was equivalent to 85 football pitches, but compared to the large investments made in the damming work, it could not pay off. In the deepest place a large lake arose. During the damming work, 3 islands became landlocked, and the first residents settled in the area. At the time, the dam work was the largest in Denmark, and Crown Prince and Governor of Funen, Crown Prince Christian, visited the site 3 times to follow the work. Two memorial stones were erected on two mounds (they are located just outside the exhibition building). One tells about the crown prince's visit, the other about Elias J. Møller's achievement, for which he received the Landhusholdningsselskabet's gold medal.
