[FR] Le château primitif fit place, au XIIe siècle, au castel fortifié dont il reste une partie du donjon, réaménagé à la fin du XVe siècle. Il sera reconstruit après la paix d'Alès (1629). Le plan de masse présente trois volumes distincts : la masse cubique du château des Roure avec une aile en retour d'équerre au sud-ouest (rajoutée plus tard) et le donjon à l'extrémité sud-est. Le donjon médiéval fut remanié à diverses reprises. La partie supérieure comporte un chemin de ronde avec crénelage et pourrait témoigner de la construction du premier rempart communal en 1379. Au premier étage, les voûtes d'arêtes ont été construites en 1777 lors du transfert des archives de la famille dans cette pièce. L'aile, ou ancienne galerie, comprend un niveau côté cour qui était un petit parc au XVIIIe siècle. Cet espace était alors voûté et contenait un théâtre et une chapelle avec un jardin au-dessus. A l'intérieur, la chambre a conservé son plafond à la française et sa cheminée du XVIIe siècle. Les pièces ont été plafonnées et pourvues de cheminées à la fin du XVIIIe siècle.

[EN] The primitive castle gave way, in the 12th century, to the fortified castel of which a part of the keep remains, reorganized at the end of the 15th century. It was rebuilt after the peace of Alès (1629). The ground plan presents three distinct volumes: the cubic mass of the Roure castle with a wing in return of square in the south-west (added later) and the keep at the south-east end. The medieval keep was modified on several occasions. The upper part has a crenellated parapet walk and could testify to the construction of the first communal rampart in 1379. On the second floor, the groin vaults were built in 1777 when the family archives were transferred to this room. The wing, or former gallery, includes a courtyard level that was a small park in the 18th century. This space was then vaulted and contained a theater and a chapel with a garden above. Inside, the room has retained its French ceiling and its 17th century fireplace. The rooms were ceilings and fireplaces at the end of the 18th century.
