Espaldar de planta rectangular e corpo escalonado em cantaria granítica de falso rusticado, com zona central alteada e terminada em empena. Espaldar composto por três fiadas de cantaria sobre a qual assenta uma outra mais estreita, colocada transversalmente, formando o capeamento dos panos laterais; ao centro, assentam ainda duas outras fiadas de cantaria, a última rematada com dois blocos colocados também transversalmente e de modo mais saliente; no falso tímpano surge inscrito no bloco central "OP - MR" sobre escudo, de formato nacional, com espada central, símbolo da cidade de Vila Real, sede do concelho, a dividir a data de 1949. Sob o escudo, na zona do silhar estreito, surge bica circular bojuda com torneira. No alinhamento do pano central, tanque rectangular formado por três lajes simples, de bordo plano, assente sobre soco, também rectangular. Ao espaldar e bordo do tanque, fixam-se duas réguas metálicas para suporte do vasilhame.

Peri-urbano. Ergue-se num dos limites do largo fronteiro à principal entrada da Quinta do Palácio de Mateus (v. PT011714150004), com espaldar flanqueado pelo muro da propriedade que se adossa formando curva de ambos os lados. Fronteiro, ergue-se no meio do largo, cruzeiro dos centenários (v. PT011714150145) e da fonte avista-se entre a vegetação o Palácio de Mateus.

Rectangular plan backrest and staggered body in false rusticated granite stonework, with a raised central area and finished in a gable. Backrest composed of three courses of stonework on which another narrower course rests, placed transversally, forming the capping of the side panels; in the centre, there are still two other rows of stonework, the last one topped off with two blocks also placed transversally and more prominently; on the false tympanum is inscribed in the central block "OP - MR" on shield, of national format, with central sword, symbol of the city of Vila Real, seat of the county, dividing the date of 1949. Under the shield, in the ashlar area narrow, there is a round spout with a tap. In the alignment of the central panel, rectangular tank formed by three simple slabs, with a flat edge, based on a basement, also rectangular. On the back and edge of the tank, two metal rulers are fixed to support the container.

It stands on one of the limits of the square in front of the main entrance to Quinta do Palácio de Mateus (see PT011714150004), with its back flanked by the property's wall which forms a curve on both sides. In front, it rises in the middle of the square, Cruz dos Centenarios (see PT011714150145) and from the fountain you can see the Palácio de Mateus among the vegetation.
