In 1976 twelve couples met with an interested to form a Greek Orthodox Church in East Longmeadow. A charter was granted by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in February 1977. The chapel at the Wimbraham-Monson Academy was rented for their first services. A building fund drive was established in July 1977 and construction of a a church was completed in 1981.
The brick neo-Byzantine style St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church has a large, red, double door entrance inset within a brick arch. Above is a mosaic of the icon of Christ Pantocrator. At the corners of the mosaic are smaller images of the four Gospel writers Matthew, Mark Luke and John. Above the mosaic is a series of five slender windows with rounded tops in ascending then descending order. The entire doorway is framed by a larger second arch.
Beneath the apex of the cross gable roof is a circular window framed by a brick circle. The roof is topped by a cross. A two tiered tower is located on the southwest corner. The lower tier has a tall lancet window with rounded top. The upper tier has a belfry with louvered windows with rounded tops and a gable roof. The south side has a gable end with a tall triple set of windows with the taller window in the center. The window is set within a brick arch. The north side is attached to auxiliary buildings.
