The dedicated bench to Josephine Ford is located outside of her 2/3 scale playhouse which she received on her 7th birthday at the
Edsel and Eleanor Ford House at 1100 Lake Shore Rd, Grosse Pointe Shores, MI 48236.
Josephine Ford, who went by Dody was born July 7, 1923 and died on June 1, 2005. She was very generous in the local Detroit arts community. She donated $20,000,000 to the College for Creative Studies and also famously gifted Van Gogh's
Portrait of the Postman Joseph Roulin, valued at $40,000,000 to the Detroit Institute of Arts.
The bench sits under an overhang with a very simple wood design outside her playhouse. The grounds are open year round for visiting as was the wish of her mother, Eleanore Ford.
