District #4 is one of five school districts in East Longmeadow. The schoolhouse for this district was built in 1869 to replace a schoolhouse built in 1791. It served the community until 1916 when is was sold to raise funds for the building of the Pleasant View School.
In 1916 East Longmedow voted to sell the school. It was purchased by Thomas W. Speight, Jr. in 1931. He and his family lived there for 31 years.
