A 15' high bronze sculpture of a Mohawk is standing on a boulder with both arms raises over his head. He is looking upward towards the eastern sky. His braided hair is draped over his shoulders against his chest and he is wearing two feathers in his hair. A quiver is hung on his back with a strap that's placed over his neck and left side.
On the front of the boulder is a bronze arrowhead with the inscription:
"HAIL TO THE SUNRISE"
IN MEMORY OF
THE MOHAWK INDIAN
THE MOHAWKS OF THE FIVE NATIONS BEGAN TO SETTLE
IN NEW YORK STATE IN 1590, AND FOR 90 GREAT SUNS
THEY FOUGHT THE NEW ENGLAND TRIBES. THE NEW YORK
MOHAWKS THAT TRAVELED THIS TRAIL WERE FRIENDLY
TO THE WHITE SETTLERS.
