Plaque Text:
Dr. W.G. Kingsbury had his store here in the 1870s. Morgan Miller had this building constructed in 1881 and operated various stores until 1902. In 1885, it was a meat market and offices, and in 1896, it was a drugstore. S.V. Dooley, who had owned a building where the J.A. Nelson building now stands, bought the property in 1902 and continued the drugstore, also selling paints and general merchandise. By 1909, this was also the telephone exchange, and in 1916, the telephone office shared space with a millinery store. By 1937, the Round Rock Leader moved its operation here, continuing until 1984. In 1972, the Leader was the last hand-set movable type newspaper in the United States.
