The icon of Christ Pantocrator is a common icon found on largely an Eastern Orthodox churches. It was one of the first images of Christ of the Early Christian Church. The icon is contained within a semi-oval and depicts Christ with his right hand raised in blessing. In his left hand he holds an open book on which is inscribed the motto adopted by St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church: THE THINGS WHICH ARE IMPOSSIBLE WITH MEN ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD. It's a verse from Luke 18:27.
At the four corners of the mosaic are smaller images of the four evangelists and their symbols of the four evangelists: Angel for Saint Matthew, the Eagle for Saint John, the Lion for Saint Mark, the Ox for Saint Luke.
