Le musée de l’Hospice Saint-Roch d’Issoudun occupe l’emplacement de l’ancien Hôtel-Dieu, fondé au XIIe siècle, et reconstruit au XVe. Ce vaste et bel édifice comprend une chapelle et des salles des malades du XVe siècle ainsi que deux ailes du XVIIe et du XVIIIe siècle. Ce patrimoine classé rassemble les Arbres de Jessé, un ensemble archéologique de la civilisation celte, des sculptures du VIIIe au XVe siècle, et l’apothicairerie…?Depuis 1995, une extension contemporaine signée par l’architecte Pierre Colboc abrite les expositions temporaires, consacrées à des artistes de notre siècle. Par son architecture autant que par sa vocation muséographique, le musée de l’Hospice Saint-Roch réalise l’alliance du passé et du présent, des richesses patrimoniales et de l’art contemporain.

Depuis février 2020, le musée s’est agrandi avec un nouvel espace d’exposition de 5000m2 à ciel ouvert : le parc de sculptures. Accessible depuis le musée, il offre aux visiteurs une nouvelle expérience.

Ce parc est situé dans l’ancien potager de l’hospice, une partie des végétaux ont été conservés et des nouvelles plantations prendront de l’ampleur au fur et à mesure des mois et des années.

The museum of the Hospice Saint-Roch of Issoudun occupies the site of the former Hôtel-Dieu, founded in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 15th. This vast and beautiful building includes a 15th century chapel and patients' rooms as well as two 17th and 18th century wings. This listed heritage includes the Trees of Jesse, an archaeological collection of Celtic civilization, sculptures from the 8th to the 15th century, and the apothecary. Since 1995, a contemporary extension designed by architect Pierre Colboc has housed temporary exhibitions devoted to artists of our century.
