George Warren Smith

An award for College Sailing regattas was created for his commitment to the sport: "The George Warren Smith '28 Trophy honors a distinguished member of the MIT faculty who volunteered countless hours of weekend time over the course of 30 years. George and Dean of Students Emily Wick were foundational supporters of intercollegiate sailing as well as sailboat racing in Rockport, Mass. Today each team benefits from their core volunteers who perform assistant coaching, scoring, judging and other tasks which support today's competitors and the spirit of a well hosted event."

Location of the tree: The tree is located at Dock Square in Rockport, Massachusetts.
