The farm started in the 1930s, when Don Galey purchased 50 acres of farmland in the Cordova Bay area. It started as a dairy farm, but began growing crops in the 1940s. The farm changed hands in the 1960s, to then be operated by Ray and Gordon Galey. In 1985, they moved the farm to a 150-acre property in the Blenkinsop valley, where it continues to operate today.

In 2000, Galey Farms expanded their operations to include agri-tourism. The farm is now popular in the fall for their corn maze and miniature train, which helps to showcase and educate about the farm operations. In 2019, Howard the Gnome - the world's tallest garden gnome - was moved from its old location near Nanoose Bay to Galey Farms, joining their many existing attractions.

The farm typically grows crops of corn, potatoes and pumpkins, as well as several types of berries and other assorted crops.
