The inspiration for the suspension bridge in the musical and movie, The Music Man, this bridge is located in the author's hometown. The current bridge was installed in 1940 and replaces an older structure. At this point, the bridge spans the creek between two limestone cliffs with an approximate 25' drop to the water. Meredith Wilson grew up in this area and it inspired many of the scenes in the musical. The bridge is white painted steel with a concrete deck for the footpath. It is approximately 115' long.
