El Gran Teatro ha sido referente y testigo de la cultura cacereña a lo largo de todos estos años; conciertos, obras de teatro, películas… han conformado su principal programación hasta nuestros días.

El edificio consta de tres plantas, destacando en el exterior los vanos en forma de ojo de buey y las ventanas en arco de medio punto.

Inaugurado en 1926 ha sufrido numerosas transformaciones y cambios con el paso del tiempo. A lo largo de su historia ha sido referente de la cultura cacereña .El 1 de diciembre de 1.986, el Gran Teatro cierra sus puertas al público después de 60 años de presencia en la vida cultural de la ciudad.

En 1992, el Gran Teatro reabre sus puertas en esta nueva época. En el escenario la compañía de Lluís Pascual con el montaje “Tirano Banderas” la obra de Valle-Inclán, escrita en 1.926, fecha memorable en la corta historia del Teatro cacereño.

Desde esta fecha el Gran Teatro se gestiona desde un Consorcio en el que se encuentran representados: Junta de Extremadura, Diputación Provincial, Ayuntamiento de Cáceres y la Entidad Caja Extremadura.

En su interior el patio de butacas está rodeado por plateas adornadas con una rica decoración de escayola con un aforo total de 565 localidades

Its construction began in the year 1915 and it was inaugurated in 1926. The Grand Theatre has been a reference for and witness to the culture of Cáceres throughout all these years, with concerts, plays, films... having shaped their main programming to this day.

The building has three floors. From the outside, note that the openings are in the shape of a porthole, and windows form semi-circular arches.

Inside, the central seating area is surrounded by balcony seating adorned with rich plaster decorations. It has a total capacity of 565 seats.

The Grand Theatre is managed by a Consortium representing different entities and public institutions.
