Update:

The suspect who ignited a standoff in an Edmond neighborhood after a gunshot was heard was later found dead inside a home.

Emily Ward, the Edmond Police Department’s Public Information Officer, said 43-year-old Garret Blaine Wood of Edmond died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, inside a house at Bank Side Circle, near 15th and Santa Fe.

Bounty hunters working on behalf of a local bondsman showed up at the home Friday afternoon to serve a warrant on Wood, who did not show up to his scheduled court date. He faced charges for multiple counts of child sex abuse, according to Ward.

“There was a barricaded area where the bounty hunters believed the suspect to be. They weren’t able to breach that area. That’s when they heard the gunshot,” said Ward.

KFOR was previously told that the suspect fired at the bounty hunters, but Ward said the bounty hunters were never shot at. She said they heard a shot, exited the home and contacted police.

Police units filled the neighborhood and a bomb squad drone was deployed to see if the suspect was inside the home. They found Wood dead in the back part of the home, Ward said.
