Ooit was het een twee-eenheid, Schijndel en Jansen de Wit. Die verbondenheid beleefde wellicht zijn hoogtepunt toen de Koninklijke Kousen- en Sokkenfabriek Jansen de Wit haar 125-jarig bestaan vierde en daarbij meteen herdacht dat het bedrijf inmiddels 40 jaar in Schijndel was gevestigd. Het was toen, in 1955, dat Schijndel een park cadeau kreeg van het jubilerende bedrijf, het Jansenpark, gelegen recht tegenover de entree van "de Sok" aan de Hoofdstraat. Van die fabriek is niets gebleven dan herinneringen. Eind jaren tachtig van de vorige eeuw maakte de slopershamer een einde aan het immense pand met de twee reusachtige schoorstenen dat zolang de Schijndelse skyline domineerde.

Het park is er nog steeds met daarin, bij de entree aan de Hoofdstraat, de beelden van leden van de familie Jansen en het beeld van de Kousenbreister van Niek van Leest. Achterin het park is verder nog het beeld van de Charmante te vinden, de verbeelding in brons van een personage uit de Camera Obscura van Nicolaas Beets. (het beeld is uit 1989 van Jan Bronner en die noemde het "Van der Hoogen"). Ooit stond er in het park een Mariabeeld en er lag een tennisbaan, nu zijn achterin het park nog altijd de ouderenwoningen te vinden. Inmiddels wordt het park gesierd door wandelpaden en een vijver in de vorm van een kous, het resultaat van een ingrijpende renovatie eind vorige eeuw.

Jansen de Wit was ooit de grootste en vrijwel de enige grote werkgever van Schijndel, een bedrijf waarvan vrijwel elke familie wel iemand ooit werkte. Toen het bedrijf in de jaren tachtig ten onder ging, betekende dat een zware klap voor de Schijndelse gemeenschap.

It was once a two-unit, Schijndel and Jansen de Wit. This connection probably reached its peak when the Royal Stockings and Socks Factory Jansen de Wit celebrated its 125th anniversary and immediately commemorated that the company had been established in Schijndel for 40 years. It was then, in 1955, that Schijndel received a park as a gift from the company celebrating its anniversary, the Jansenpark, located right opposite the entrance of "de Sok" on the Hoofdstraat. Nothing has remained of that factory but memories. At the end of the eighties of the last century, the demolition hammer put an end to the immense building with the two gigantic chimneys that dominated the Schijndel skyline for so long.

The park is still there with, at the entrance on the Hoofdstraat, the statues of members of the Jansen family and the statue of the stocking knitter by Niek van Leest. At the back of the park is also the statue of the Charmante, the bronze depiction of a character from Nicolaas Beets' Camera Obscura. (the statue is from 1989 by Jan Bronner and he called it "Van der Hoogen"). Once there was a statue of Mary in the park and there was a tennis court, now the elderly homes can still be found at the back of the park. The park is now adorned with walking paths and a pond in the shape of a stocking, the result of a major renovation at the end of the last century.

Jansen de Wit was once the largest and virtually the only major employer of Schijndel, a company where almost every family had someone once worked. When the company went under in the 1980s, it dealt a heavy blow to the Schijndel community.
