The Warelands Dairy produced the highest quality certified milk in the United States during the period 1905-1913, at a time when hundreds of thousands of children and adults were stricken annually by diarrheal and tubercular milk diseases, as well as by milk carried organisms such as typhoid, scarlet fever and diphtheria. Before pasteurization it was the first dairy whose product was certified by the Milk Commission of the Suffolk District Medical Society, Boston. Charlotte Ware attained these achievements by the establishment of unprecedented function oriented facilities (still existing), and by an elaborate series of meticulous procedures (described at length in Bostonia of Boston University Alumni Association, November, 1945, p. 57).
