Call it a mausoleum, call it an enclosure, but the structure that covers the final resting places of the McGlaun family was constructed here in Snyder Cemetery in 1933.

Typically, a mausoleum is defined as a free-standing building that provides above ground interment space, contrasted with a crypt, which is below ground. Here, this stone building simply covers the final resting places of six members of the McGlaun family, all of whom are buried in the traditional manner, i.e. "in the ground, six feet down."

This stone building is dated 1933, and the first burial under it was Hattie McGlaun (1886-1933), followed later by her husband, Gay (1882-1958). The locked door and the eight windows -- four on each side -- are painted gray, while the central section has a rounded roof. There are four columns, one at each corner, and the family name and year of construction are engraved in the stone above the entrance. The interior is painted light green, and the six headstones are along the west wall. There are a few footstones, but not every member has one. Besides Hattie and Gay McGlaun, those also resting here are their son, W. Alfred McGlaun (1905-1981) and his wife, Rosalie (Clark) McGlaun (1905-1993), and a grandson, William Alfred McGlaun, Jr. (1927-1995). Findagrave doesn't make a connection, but Margaret Adline McGlaun (1856-1939) was probably Gay McGlaun's mother.
