Described by the University of Central Florida as a "computer-driven sentence generator", Lipstick Enigma is a bank of 1,200 resin lipstick tubes that displays randomly-generated messages. These messages are created by mixing engineering and fashion jargon and are then displayed by pushing the lipstick tubes forward in a manner similar to a dot-matrix printer. The sculpture is activated by detecting nearby movement.

The plaque next to the installation describes the piece as a "humorous mash-up of two gender stereotypes".
