""The End of the Texas Trail"
Between 1874 and 1884 Ogallala was a booming cow town. Cowboys would push Texas Longhorns up the Texas Trail to Ogallala and ship them east on the Union Pacific Railroad. Ogallala consisted of a small cluster of buildings including the two most notorious saloons; The Crystal Palace and Cowboy's Rest. Poker matches, gunfights, and saloon girls were a familiar site in the town. In ten years Ogallala saw seventeen violent deaths earning a reputation as a town too tough for Texans.

Front Street Cowboy Museum opened its doors in 1964 to bring the colorful past of Ogallala's history to life. Take a journey back in time when Ogallala filled with thousands of longhorn cattle, cowboys, and saloon girls earning its reputation as the Gomorrah of the cow towns."
